Sharon E. She supports healthcare systems, public agencies, and emergency response organizations through clinical expertise, program development, research leadership, and medical education, helping bridge the gap between frontline care and system-level preparedness.

Dr. Mace is a Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University, where she has served since 2007. Over the course of her career, she has held numerous senior leadership roles, including Director of Research, Director of Community Paramedicine, Director of Pediatric Education and Quality Improvement, Director of Observation Units, and Assistant Medical Director for EMS. Her work has played a key role in shaping innovative care delivery models, particularly in community paramedicine, urgent dispatch, and telemedicine.

Clinically, Dr. Mace has logged more than 237,000 hours of emergency department practice and thousands of hours with medical emergency response teams. She has served as an emergency physician, pediatric attending, flight physician, and telemedicine provider across academic and community hospitals. Her leadership experience includes directing multiple emergency departments and overseeing occupational health, pediatric services, and emergency medicine residency training programs.

Dr. Mace is board certified in both Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Emergency Physicians. A prolific author and editor, she has written three medical textbooks and more than 200 scholarly publications, including over 20 peer-reviewed articles focused on disaster medicine. Her work continues to influence clinical practice, education, and emergency preparedness at the local, national, and international levels.
