Although the bulk of the storm missed Louisiana, the State’s biggest impact was evacuees from Texas. Louisiana stood up shelters to assist Texas with their displaced evacuees due to all the flooding. Thousands of people medically stable and medically unstable were brought to shelters. R-S-I, as an asset to the State, sent a forward team to Louisiana to prepare logistically for a deployment if the shelters were to remain open for any extended period of time. Our Strike Teams were placed on alert status and preparing for deployment to supplement staff in the Medical Special Needs Shelters.
